October 11 is celebrated every year as the International Girl Childs day , the world over since the time of UN declaration in 2012. Rotary International has been playing an important role in the upliftment of the Girl Child all across the globe. This year the theme for Rotary Club of Wakad is ” The upliftment and empowerment of the Girl child ” and as a part of the International Girl Child Day celebration the Rotary Club of Wakad organised a Medical checkup camp for the girl child at the labour quarters of a construction site in Wakad at Park Titanium . A renowned dentist Mrs. Akansha Desai & a Homeopath Miss. Poonam Dharmani visited the labour camp & conducted a thorough medical checkup on about 46 girl students. Mr. Vijay Javeri the President of Rotary Club of Wakad declared that those children whose dental health was found to be in a bad shape would be attended to by the doctors & Rotary Club of Wakad will bear the entire cost of the surgery if advised by the doctors. The medical camp was wound up with a sumptuous breakfast provided to all the children & the Teachers who are doing a selfless service by spending quality time and imparting education to these children
