1st Prize Winner-Apostrophe Society- Wakad-Society Bappa
Ganesha festival is something we look forward to everyyear, biggest reason behind the feeling of togetherness, this is the time our whole society comes forward and we celebrate it with great enthusiasm, residents volunteer in teams for different activities like Decoration, Prasad ,Games, etc.
I along with my team (eight of us) volunteered for decoration. It all started with planning a theme to begin with and the aim was to do it in a eco-friendly manner keeping Mother Nature and vibrant festive mood into consideration, had a limited budget and yet we wanted our decor to standout. We had few constraints: time, budget, and durability as fresh flowers won’t stay for long (we celebrate Ganpati for 5 days). After putting all pros and cons into our thought process,we zeroed on the bright and vibrant yellow orange combination and walked into the busy streets of Pune city ,peth areas to find some eco-friendly material to initiate our decoration work .We found an alternative in the form of silk thread rolls ,and we bought them, created beautiful garlands, bells and beautiful grid patterns on our clubhouse walls .To beautify it further, added mirrors and beautiful ribbons as well. Made rangolis out of fresh flowers and colors. Decorated ceiling with bright paper pompoms. Added LED lights to to the decor to brighten it further. And the clubhouse turned into a sort of temple.
Although we worked hard rigorously for close to 8/9 days right from planning till execution, but the appreciation from all society residents and outsiders made it all worth. And we were very happy too with the end result and look. Thank you Decoration Team, Apostrophe ( Neetu,Padma, Rupali, Kanipriya, Bhanu, Richa, Mona and Nishu)
